Department Overview: Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team focuses on creating innovative Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale within a multi-tenant cloud environment. Our goal is to deliver best-in-class services for compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an expanding array of foundational cloud-based offerings. Position Summary: We seek hands-on engineers who are enthusiastic about solving complex challenges in distributed systems and highly available services. At Oracle, you’ll have the opportunity to design and build innovative systems from scratch. This is an exciting phase as we rapidly grow and embark on ambitious new initiatives, where your contributions will have significant technical and business impact. Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will lead the software design and development processes for significant components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. You should be an experienced coder and a distributed systems expert, comfortable diving deep into low-level systems and designing intricate distributed system interactions. You will value simplicity and scalability, thrive in a collaborative and agile environment, and be eager to expand your knowledge. Candidate Profile: 3-5+ years experience in delivering and managing large-scale, highly available distributed systems. Proficient in C, C++, or Java, with experience in scripting languages like Python or Perl. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and fundamental distributed systems. Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard architectures. In-depth knowledge of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies. Thorough understanding of Linux is advantageous, or a keen interest to learn. Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities. Experience in building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a definite plus. Preferred Skills / Technologies: Experience in software engineering focused on distributed systems within large-scale environments. 3-5+ years of experience tackling challenging issues with a proactive, self-motivated approach (varies based on level). Experience in virtualization is highly beneficial. Additional Information: Certain customer-facing roles may require compliance with applicable health and immunization mandates. Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum and may include the eligibility for bonuses and equity.
