Lead - Ultrasound Technologist

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the division supervisor, division head, and/or department administration will function as the person in charge in the absence of the supervisor. Will not be expected to make independent changes in policy/procedures or take disciplinary actions in the supervisor's absence. Performs related duties as required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * May assist as a timekeeper, preparing employee schedules, ordering of supplies, reporting equipment malfunctions, and other related function of the division as directed by the division/department leadership. * May function as a Sonographer and be assigned in the division schedules. (Will adhere to the job description for the position.) * Will make the division/department leadership aware of any incidents, problems or emergencies that occur in the division. * Will respond to the radiologists and/or staff physicians regarding quality of patient care issues and relay information to the division/department leadership as appropriate. * May assist with the training of new personnel, and/or students who are assigned to the division. * Ensue that adequate supplies are in the division and properly stored. * May perform clerical duties to include answering telephones, patient scheduling, and RIS functions as needed. * May support image management functions such as: request folder, follow-up on missing/unread cases, completing RIS function, etc. * May maintain records: keep logs and other documentation as needed. * May participate in meeting, educational programs, and documentation. * Processes images and related functions as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required * Must be registered in Ultrasound Physics, OB/GYN, and Abdomen with the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS) * Minimum of 3 years of Ultrasound Technologist experience required * Must maintain required hours of continued medical education * Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) Additional Information * Organization: Henry Ford Hospital - Detroit Main Campus * Department: Radiology-Ultrasound * Shift: Day Job * Union Code: Not Applicable
