In-person | Depew, NY | No remote/hybridBuffalo Solar Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Energy who provides technical leadership from day one, translating complex customer and project requirements into clear, buildable, and utility-ready solutions for commercial solar and battery energy storage systems. You lead projects from early technical development through engineering coordination, interconnection, permitting, and readiness for construction—ensuring each solution meets customer objectives while remaining technically sound, financially viable, and executable in the field.You collaborate closely with customers, Sales, Engineering, and Construction to align expectations, protect margin, reduce technical and schedule risk, and deliver projects that are approved the first time and ready to build. Through strong communication, mentorship, and hands-on leadership, you guide teams through utility and AHJ processes and keep multiple projects on track toward Notice to Proceed with confidence.What You"ll DoLead technical preconstruction from contract through NTP across multiple projectsDirect and coordinate engineering, interconnection, permitting, and site assessment effortsReview and approve utility and AHJ submissions before external filingEnsure applications are complete, accurate, and approved on first submissionInterpret utility studies and define required design or scope changesGuide teams through reviewer comments and evolving requirementsIdentify risks early and drive corrective actionDeliver a clean, build-ready technical handoff to ConstructionWhat We"re Looking ForProven leadership skills directing and quality-checking cross-functional technical workExperience managing multiple active projects and strict submission deadlinesHands-on experience with utility interconnection and permitting through approval/PTOAbility to review electrical/PV drawings for accuracy and constructabilityExperience coordinating with utilities, AHJs, fire departments, and engineers of recordNice to have: solar + battery (BESS) experience, familiarity with NEC/fire codes, NABCEP certification.Why Buffalo Solar SolutionsCommercial-only EPC with a strong technical cultureEstablished estimating, engineering, and construction teams to support youReal authority to set standards and prevent downstream problemsOpportunity to lead critical project development work and shape how projects get builtThis role exists to prevent problems before they reach the field.
