The employee performs related work as required. Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.Schedule, plan, direct and assist the activities of work crews engaged in the Streets divisions.Responsible for supervising and organizing the work of and assuring the technical correctness of functions performed by other Foreman, Equipment Operators, semi-skilled and unskilled laborers within the divisionEstablish policies, methods and procedures to be followed by work crewsInvestigates citizen complaints and takes or recommends appropriate actionMaintains a variety of operational recordsMonitors equipment utilization and maintenance, recommends replacements and may participate in the preparation of specifications for and the acquisition of equipmentMay requisition, purchase and/or maintain suppliesAbility to operate all equipment in Streets division, including backhoes, track hoes, bulldozer, dump trucks, and frontend loaders.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Progressive knowledge of the methods and techniques used to supervise and coordinate work crews in the work areaProgressive knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials used in the assigned work areaExtensive knowledge of departmental policies and proceduresProgressive knowledge and skill in operating the tools and equipment used in the assigned areaAbility to train, direct and supervise the work of subordinate employeesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the publicNothing in this job description limits management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
