Description Adjunct Instructors of Psychology at Piedmont University will teach sections of psychology courses online and/or on our Athens campus. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Maintaining accurate and secure records of student grades and attendance. Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives, teaching, and grading of all courses. Filing accurate course syllabi with the College of Arts and Sciences each semester. Maintaining an understanding of university and department policies. Contributing to the ongoing operation of their respective department and college. Assuring their availability to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by being available before or after class and regularly checking their university email. Other relevant duties as assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is required. On-site work is required. Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs. Typical QualificationsEducation and Experience Master's degree in Psychology or a related discipline. Prior teaching experience in a college/university environment preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of students. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders. Ability to maintain detailed student records. Ability to effectively work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Supplemental Information Environmental, Physical, and Visual Acuity Factors: Work will be performed in inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents will perform work that is mostly sedentary where they exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Incumbents will regularly get up and down from a seated position, reach, bend, and stand throughout the day. Incumbents are required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
