You can earn up to $60,000 in recruitment and retention incentives: Recruitment Incentive: Newly appointed agents can receive up to $20,000, with the first $10,000 paid upon completing the Border Patrol Academy, and the second half for accepting a prioritized location. Retention Incentive: Up to an additional $40,000 may be available over the first four years of employment. Your Responsibilities: As a Border Protection Agent, you will play a crucial role in protecting the American people by: Executing border surveillance and questioning individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations. Preventing and apprehending unauthorized noncitizens and smugglers through tactical operations. Engaging in physical patrols of the international boundary and coastal waters using various government assets. Qualifications: To qualify for a GL-5 grade level position, you must demonstrate one year of general work experience or possess a bachelor's degree. For the GL-7 grade level, specialized work experience in law enforcement is necessary. Additional Requirements: You must be a U.S. Citizen. Three years of primary U.S. residency required. Must be under 40 years of age, unless you meet specific exemptions. After hiring, you will attend the U.S. Border Patrol Academy for approximately six months of intensive training, which includes immigration laws, law enforcement techniques, and Spanish language proficiency.
