Job Description:
* Provide direct support and behavioral services, including risk assessments, individual/group counseling services, social skills development, and treatment planning to students with disabilities. * Participate in crisis intervention and/or crisis management strategies when students are engaged in traumatic, dangerous behaviors. * Collaborate with campus staff, administrators, students, and parents to develop safety plans for students exhibiting behaviors which threaten safety to self and/or others. * Make recommendations for educationally-related behavioral health services, such as counseling services, positive behavior interventions and supports. * Monitor student progress on behavior and counseling goals in the student's IEP. * Attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee (ARD) meetings to assist the committee in developing and reporting progress on IEP goals as well as support services provided. * Develop and conduct training for parents, families, and campus staff regarding special education disabilities, parent rights, behavior and mental health, district/community resources, etc… * Provide referrals for services and case management as needed and guard client confidentiality by adhering to both FERPA and HIPAA regulations. * Maintain required accountability documentation to document support activities. * Maintain professional competency by keeping abreast of current trends in evidenced-based interventions, behavior and mental health, community resources, ethics, and special education laws. * Engage in professional behaviors that reflect integrity, accountability, and moral standards. * Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned. * Master's Degree from an accredited university required; valid Texas licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist required. * Valid Texas licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist required. * Minimum three years experience working with children and youth in a special education setting; experience in an urban school setting and/or in a multicultural education environment preferred. * Extensive knowledge and experience with evidence-based interventions. * Demonstrated ability of special education principles, theories, and laws (federal and state). * Ability to resolve logistical and operational problems; make data driven decisions. * Keep and compile records and develop detailed reports. * Maintain and establish effective working relationships with parents and school personnel. * Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. * Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a collaborative work style. * Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
