As an Armed Public Safety Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment across healthcare properties through vigilant foot and vehicle patrols. Your role is vital in protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding promptly to calls for service and managing potentially volatile situations with professionalism and care. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine surveillance of healthcare grounds and buildings to ensure safety. Respond to incidents and calls for service, aiming to de-escalate conflicts effectively. Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily shift logs and incident reports. Communicate safety concerns and updates to management and relevant departments. Assist with parking enforcement and direct traffic as needed. Work collaboratively with team members, demonstrating respect and confidentiality in all interactions. Education High School Diploma or GED is required. Graduation from a Law Enforcement Academy is mandatory. Experience At least one year of patrol experience or four years of active law enforcement detention experience is necessary. Certifications and Licenses Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Must be a commissioned law enforcement officer in good standing or have held a valid commission within the past three years, with the ability to obtain commission within 90 days of employment. Valid driver's license required. Mental and Physical Requirements Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, interpret policies, and operate patrol vehicles safely. Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, including navigating stairs and long corridors. Working Conditions This role involves exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, cold, noise, and potential contact with infectious materials. Officers may encounter aggressive or distressed individuals and must maintain composure and professionalism at all times.
