Job Description:
Reporting to the Radiography Program Head, the Radiography Instructor inspires and prepares the next generation of healthcare professionals through engaging classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. This role combines hands-on teaching with innovative learning strategies to help students master radiographic principles, develop clinical competence, and achieve program success as confident, compassionate professionals. Teleworking: This position is assigned to the VGCC Main Campus in Henderson NC; although, some travel to other counties in the college's service area is possible. Consistent with VGCC's Teleworking Policy, this position is eligible for up to 2 days per week of telework after the first 9 months of employment in this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job. * Lead and manage classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities. * Conduct class, lab, and clinical experiences according to established meeting patterns, and notify the Program Head of any changes. * Communicate with students via the LMS platform as appropriate per course design (enhanced, hybrid or online). * Provide feedback to students regarding course progression through assignments, tests, conversation and notes in the College's Watermark system. * Record attendance and grades in myVGCC in accordance with semester deadlines. * Manage student issues (academic, attendance, behavior, cheating, plagiarism) appropriately and inform the Program Head as soon as possible. * Maintain class records documenting student membership hours, academic progress, student grading systems, etc. * Experiment with new, innovative teaching techniques. * Assess student learning outcomes, demonstrate the use of the results to make improvements to course/program and submit documentation in a timely manner as directed by the Program Head. * Serve as a faculty advisor for assigned students. Advising includes academic progress reviews, course scheduling, coaching and mentoring. * Maintain a minimum of five posted office hours per week for student conferences. These hours may be extended during registration at the discretion of the Program Head. * Create, maintain and submit to the Program Head for review all course documents such as syllabi, student learning outcomes, assignments, tests, etc. * Collaborate with the Program Head to assign courses every semester. * Update courses in the LMS for use in enhanced, hybrid, and online courses prior to start of semester. * Maintain course master plans. * Collaboratively with the Program Head, engage in program improvement efforts including but not limited to strategy development for 3-year program review, advisory committee engagement, curriculum design, and accreditation. * Serve as an advisor for the Radiography Club. * Recommend adoption or discontinuance of textbooks and/or other instructional supplies and equipment to the Program Head. * Recommend new books, magazines, materials and equipment for use in the Learning Resources Center to Program Head (as appropriate). * Regularly participate as a member of assigned institutional committees and attend scheduled program/department meetings. * Engage in professional development, which includes maintaining current CEU requirements set forth by ASRT. * Maintain ARRT certification. * Obtain and maintain certification in online delivery systems as required by the college. * Attend at least one professional conference per academic year with students. * Represent the Radiography program in community service activities. * Participate in student recruitment efforts as directed. * Demonstrate proficiency in technology required for teaching and learning and administrative processes. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Head and/or Academic Dean. Education and Experience Required: * Bachelor's Degree from a regionally-accredited college or university * Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Radiography from a regionally-accredited college or university * American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)RT Certification * (ARRT)RT current registration * 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience * 5 years of full-time experience in the Radiology field * LMS experience (Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) * Standing required for extended periods (up to 4 hours) * Essential skills include the ability to use auditory and visual senses. * Lift and carry at least 50 pounds to safely transport and use ancillary aids (image receptors, sandbags, portable equipment, etc.) when performing radiologic procedures * Reach, manipulate, and operate radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, which is above shoulder level (about 6 feet above the floor) * Safely move standard wheelchairs without assistance
