Trains employees and ensures the safety and quality of work group operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description * Leads and coordinates the work of a group of employees; assigns and prioritizes tasks; guides employees with instruction or advice on tasks and assignments. * Performs skilled work of assigned work group. * Schedules routine maintenance on equipment. * Assists supervisors in coordinating activities. * Adheres to safety standards. * Operates a wide variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment associated with the construction trades. * Installs mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing components. * Performs concrete, masonry, framing, roofing, and general carpentry work. * Performs metal fabrication using a wide variety of equipment such as welders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and hand tools. * Purchases tools, materials and supplies. * Performs snow removal and ice prevention. * Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered Education and Experience * High school diploma or equivalent. * 3 to 5 years' experience in the construction industry. Licenses or Certifications * Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement within 6 months of hire. * Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification. Candidates must be able to perform construction work on new and existing buildings, shelters, aquatic facilities, and parks. This position performs a variety of construction trades including carpentry, concrete work, roofing, and masonry work. The Crew Leader - Construction position performs metal fabrication using a wide variation of equipment such as welders, cutting torch, plasma cutter, and hand tools. Ideal candidates will be able to operate a wide variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment associated with the construction trades, as well as operate surveying equipment and laser levels necessary for grading and the construction of walkways and structures. During winter months when there is inclement weather, this position assists with snow removal in the park system. This position will also perform other related duties as assigned. Candidates should have a Class B Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsement or the ability to acquire within 6 months of hire. This is a full-time position with benefits and a minimum salary of $25.82/hr. Position hours: 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday-Friday.
