About the Job Location: Silver Lake Mall, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815 Position Type: Full-Time Shift: 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM Saturday through Tuesday Pay: $20 per hour (based on experience; opportunities for overtime and shift differentials) Reports To: Security Supervisor About Silver Lake Mall: Silver Lake Mall is a family owned shopping center that features retailers like Bath & Body Works, Black Sheep Sporting Goods, various specialty shops, and dining options. Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and vigilant Security Officer to join our mall security team. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in maintaining a secure and positive atmosphere by patrolling the property, responding to incidents, and ensuring the safety of all guests and staff. This is a hands-on position ideal for individuals with a strong sense of responsibility, customer service skills, and a passion for protecting people and property. The evening/overnight shift requires alertness during quieter hours, with a focus on proactive monitoring. Key Responsibilities:Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of the mall interior, exterior, parking lots, and common areas to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized activities. Monitor surveillance cameras and access control systems; respond promptly to alarms, suspicious behavior, or emergencies. Provide courteous assistance to shoppers, tenants, and employees, including directions, lost-and-found services, and conflict de-escalation. Enforce mall policies, including parking regulations, loitering restrictions, and safety protocols; issue warnings or coordinate with local law enforcement as needed. Document incidents, prepare detailed reports, and maintain accurate logs of daily activities using our security management software. Collaborate with mall management, retail tenants, and emergency services during incidents like medical emergencies, fires, or disturbances. Perform opening/closing procedures, including securing entrances and conducting safety checks. Support special events, promotions, or peak shopping periods by providing crowd control and additional patrols. Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Idaho driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to remain calm under pressure and interact professionally with diverse groups. Physical fitness to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. if needed. Proficiency with basic technology (e.g., radios, CCTV systems, report-writing apps); training provided for mall-specific tools.
