Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Float Pool position requiring expertise across ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health units. Responsibilities Work as part of the hospital-wide Nursing Resource Team, floating to ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health including adult acute, youth acute, and addiction recovery units Care for a variety of patient populations across acute care, critical care, and behavioral health settings Units range from 21 to 35 beds depending on assignment Nurse to patient ratios vary by unit: ICU 1:1-2, Med/Surg 1:5-6, PCU 1:3-4, Behavioral Health 1:5-6 for days and 1:10 overnight 12-hour shifts, either 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with every other weekend required Shift schedule is determined by unit needs and may involve mid-shift floating Equipment includes KBH/YA Restraint board and patient lifts, with training provided during onboarding Role requires adaptability, strong time management, and effective teamwork with various units Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of care in multiple specialties Assists physicians during exams and procedures and administers medications within RN scope Patient and family education on conditions, medications, and self-care is essential Orientation includes Restraint-C, MOAB, boundaries, and use of equipment such as lifts and restraint boards Dress code is navy blue scrubs Regular attendance is essential and holiday coverage may be required Client does not accept local candidates and enforces a 50-mile radius eligibility requirement Requirements Active ID or compact RN license Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program (BSN highly preferred) Minimum of 3 years' experience in each of the following areas: ER, ICU, PCU, Med Surg, and Behavioral Health (including adult acute, youth acute, addiction recovery) Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications Experience with cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation Department of Health & Welfare background fingerprinting required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-670698.
