Every person. Every time.1. Supervises assigned clerical staff of the Department to ensure the quality of work.Interviews and recommends for hiring quality staff according to Personnel Policies. (E) Encourage harmony and teamwork to maintain turnover not to exceed the hospital average1.3 Schedule's staff according to Department and Personnel Policies to ensure coverage of work area. (E)1.4 Assists Director in determining staffing needs, work methods and performance standards. (E)1.5 Monitors the job performance of each employee as demonstrated by current performance logs and the performance appraisal. (E)1.6 Complies with department policies in authorizing changes in assigned employee work schedules. (E) 1.7 Completes all employee reports and records according to established time frames. (E) a. Manages the work flow of the designated shift/department to ensure the completion of work assignments2.1 Assigns workload to Department staff, taking into consideration priority of work and skill of employee, as demonstrated by assignments being completed on time. (E) Provides assistance to Director by recommending changes in departmental originating plans and programs, operating standards, and policies and procedures based on assessed needs of the Department.(E)Maintains an adequate and evenly balanced supply inventory as demonstrated by requisition orders. Encourage staff to participate in CQI projects.3. Provides training to orientation to Department staff to assist in maintaining staffs' competency.3.1 Assists in orientation of new department employees by informing them of hospital regulations and procedures.3.2 Develops and/or conducts training sessions to keep Department personnel current in hospital changes and developments. (E)3.3 Plans and assures orientations of new employees according to Department protocol verifying that each new employee is properly trained before working alone. (E)3.4 Collaborates with other managers and Education Department to meet educational needs of department. (E)Assists staff to develop goals and objectives for individual professional growth. (E)4. Contributes to the effective management of the Department.4.1 Keeps Director informed in a timely manner of any unusual concerns, situations, or conditions relative to staff, patients, families, or physicians. (E)4.3 Demonstrates effectively time management by completing commitments within negotiated time frames. (E)4.4 Assist with special projects in addition to normal duties. (E)5. Interact and coordinates insurance department procedures with other departments and providers5.1 Provides information about insurance benefits in close association with Social Services with in one day.Stays abreast of regulations and billing procedures of Worker's Compensation and advise director of action needed to comply.(E) Coordinates CPT-4 coding interaction with the ancillary departments and insurance department to insure maximum reimbursement. (E) Maintaining staff contacts at major providers such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross to enable quick resolution of problems and billing concerns. (E)6. Performs audit controls activities relating to Accounts Receivable.6.1 Maintains effective controls over cash receipts and the accounts receivable. (E)6.2. Researches reasons for inaccurate billing statements. Prepares adjustments to the patient accounts where necessary following established procedures (E)Controls the miscellaneous cash accounts to ensure that all cash transactions are posted to the general ledger accurately. Researches reasons for rejected cash and out-of-balance conditions. Maintains the cash rejection log and follows up when appropriate. (E)Performs problem solving techniques according to established procedures utilizing resourcefulness and initiative. (E) Monitor the timely processing of Medicare Medicaid, Commercial and patient refund to insure customer satisfaction.(E) Ensure timely and accurate reporting of credit to the collection agencies upon receipt of payments and bad debt accounts. (E) Coordinates and processes adjustments an all challenge audits for over and under charging.1.
