Salary : $69,596.80 - $88,691.20 Annually Location : Clermont, FL Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 01282 Department: Public Services Division: Water Distribution Opening Date: 02/16/2026 Closing Date: Continuous General Description This position is responsible for the supervision of operations and related crew(s) within the Distribution Division for the City. Work is performed under general supervision. This position is non-exempt. Fair Labor Standards Act overtime provisions will apply."Four Tens" Flexible Work Schedule Available! (work four ten-hour days per week, three-days off) Per Florida Statute 295.065, certain servicemembers and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such servicemembers and veterans, receive preference and priority, and that certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled. Primary DutiesSupervises the work of assigned crew(s) and contractors throughout the City; it includes, but is not limited to, scheduling, making assignments, and addressing personnel issues. Checks progress of work and resolves problems or complaints. Inspects work during and upon completion to assure work meets compliance and City guidelines. Instructs employees in safe and efficient procedures and methods to perform their duties. Checks trucks and/or equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations in assigned area. Assists and supervises operations/functions such as maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of utilities, operation of heavy equipment and traffic control. Assists in the establishment or revision of assigned department rules and regulations. Holds regular safety training sessions for personnel. Implements and enforces City Personnel, Departmental Policies and Procedures. Supervises purchases, orders materials, and prepares budget requests. May prepare and review bid specifications and pay monthly bills. May send out notices or verify permits depending on area assigned. Prepares periodic and yearly reports as required or requested. Maintains telephone service/communications and will be placed on emergency call outs, rotating shifts, on call duties, and extended hours in emergency situations. May perform office functions such as answering telephones, filing, data entry, providing information, etc. May coordinate work with other Operation Chiefs or Distribution Supervisor to ensure completion of task or project. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. Five (5) years of water distribution experience. Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience or two (2) years as a Distribution Technician Supervisor. Valid Florida Class "2" Certificate in Water Distribution. Obtain a Class "B" Commercial Learners Permit with airbrake (and tanker if in assigned area) endorsement within three (3) months from date of hire and obtain a Class "B" Commercial Florida Driver's License within six (6) months with airbrake (and tanker if in assigned area) endorsement from date of hire. Hazardous endorsement may also be required depending on assigned area. Obtain FEMA IS100, IS700 and IS200 within 6 months from date of employment. Valid Florida Driver's License. Confined Space Certificate; Completion of a Trenching and Excavation, Competent Person certificate course and Lockout/ Tag-out Certificate. In some cases, an equivalent combination of higher education and experience may be considered, provided that the education and experience is in a relevant and related field. Essential Physical Functions & Environmental ConditionsPhysical Demands Continual light work and occasional heavy work. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds. Requires frequent walking and standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, and bending. Good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Good eyesight, hearing, and speech. Regular driving of vehicle. Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required. Work Environment Works outside in sometimes adverse environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, and rain) for moderate periods of time with exposure to a) construction; b) water/wastewater; c) site hazards including but not limited to bright/dim lights, dust/pollen, intense noise, vibration, fumes/noxious odors, toxic/caustic chemicals, electrical shock, heights of 70 feet or more, disease/pathogens, and moving machinery; d) traffic; and/or) moving machinery depending on assigned area.
