The Student Employee will be paid at the end of the semester when the supervisor issues payment. This position is paid via a stipend of $500 If all requirements are met: Attend all meetings, as required, with SGA advisor. No meetings should be missed by executive board members unless excused by SGA advisor, President, or Chief of Staff within 24 hours in advance. Executive Board Members must attend all events unless excused by SGA Advisor, President, or Chief of Staff at least 24 hours in advance. There must always be at least two Executive Board members at all SGA Events Evaluation Period: Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester, the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester Purpose: To preside over all SGA meetings, and serve as the official representative of SGA to Mount St. Joseph University community and other student organizations. Will meet with the advisor weekly. The SGA President will administer and oversee all SGA activities in compliance with the SGA constitution and will have the authority to set up working groups to meet to evaluate specific club-oriented issues or concerns. Will be tasked to meet with the SGA advisor to discuss SGA programming and interaction with all students and student organizations as needed. The SGA President is responsible for: Uphold and enforce the provisions of the Constitution Make immediate necessary decisions concerning the Student Government Resolve any disputes over the interpretation of the Constitution, with advice from the SGA Advisor Call meetings of the Student Government Association Approve stipends for the elected SGA members Have the right to call meetings to order between the Executive Board and Committee chairs as necessary. Duties & Responsibilities: Be the official representative and spokesperson for the student body and the Student Government Association Represent the student body and SGA at the Student Experience Committee of the Board of Trustees meetings and all other functions as appropriate or requested Preside over all Student Government Association meetings; organize the time and place of SGA meetings Appoint all vacant offices with the approval of the General Assembly Appoint student representatives to the University-wide Committees, with guidance and approval from the executive board in consultation with the SGA Advisor Abide by and interpret the Student Government Association Constitution and support the mission of Mount St. Joseph University in the conduct of business of the student government. Have the power to veto legislation. Legislation approved by the President shall be verified by their signature and/or verbal approval. Legislation vetoed by the President shall be returned to the General Assembly, accompanied by a written and/or verbal veto statement. However, said veto may be overridden by the General Assembly with a two-thirds (2/3) vote at the next regular meeting. Failure by the President to approve Legislation within 14 calendar days of passage by the Senate shall constitute Presidential Approval.
