Position Type: Student Support-Licensed Professional Areas/Academic InterventionistDate Posted: 4/13/2026Location: Trojan Learning CenterDate Available: when filledClosing Date: when filledNon-benefited position. 5.75 hours/day $35/hourSUMMARY OF POSITION:The Academic Interventionist works extensively with students, including those enrolled in the district's online school and alternative education program, who need academic support and/or are credit deficient, to improve academic achievement and overall performance. Support may be provided in person or virtually, depending on student needs. The Academic Interventionist collaborates with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to monitor student data, track progress, and implement learning methods and motivation strategies that best support each student's success.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Valid teaching license required, Math content preferredWorking knowledge of educational standards, strategies, and technologyClassroom leadership and facilitation skillsAbility to disaggregate, interpret, and analyze assessment dataCommunicate effectively with administrators, principals, teachers, and parents both orally and in writingGOALS OF THE ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONIST:To ensure that student achievement data is used to drive decisions at the classroom and school levelTo help students develop proficient literacy and math skills that will contribute to their academic growthTo provide a continuum of support and help the students meet grade-level expectationsTo work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement interventionsTo ensure that each student is on track to graduate from high schoolDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, teach, and evaluate instruction for students having difficulty with English/Language Arts and/or mathProvide support for students who are credit-deficient or at risk of not graduatingImplement individualized graduation plans for at-risk studentsImplement appropriate student interventions, including the use of research-based interventionsCollect, compile, and submit reports on pre/post achievement data for students participating in remediation/intervention activitiesWork with the classroom teacher and district personnel to coordinate instruction designed to meet the individual needs of studentsWork with the classroom teachers to monitor student progressProvide direct support, mentoring, and check-ins to help students improve academic behaviorsParticipate in ongoing data analysis, inquiry, and collaboration around intervention, coaching, and facilitationMeet regularly with the building administrator and classroom teachers to determine school needs.Assist in strengthening family and school ties by facilitating opportunities for parents to increase their understanding and knowledge of the online platformFollow other directives from the building administrator and Director(s) of Teaching and Learning, and the Superintendent.ABILITIES:Must hold a valid Indiana Teaching License, Math preferredKnowledge of and experience with a variety of language arts, reading, and math instructional methods and materialsAwareness of the varied ways in which students learnEffective organizational abilityEffective diagnostic and remedial instruction abilitiesEffective working rapport with classroom teachers, school counselors, and other classified and certified staffExcellent communication skills with students and other professionalsUnderstanding of evidence-based reading research and assessment of student progress toward achievement of benchmarksDemonstrate a desire to work cooperatively with other educatorsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationshipsAbility to learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily workAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporationAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to multitask with attention to detailProficient operation of office equipment, including computer and job-related software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, sharing, and others.Practical knowledge and use of multimedia authoring programs, learning management systems (Canvas), and emerging technologiesPractical knowledge of differentiated instruction, reading strategies, instructional design theories, and learning style theoriesPerform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set project prioritiesPerform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors and district administratorsSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS(includes equipment, hours, physical demands)Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
