Reports to: Transportation Specialist Supervises: N/A Term of Employment: 10 months Salary: Pay Grade 50 FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-ExemptQualifications: High School diploma or equivalent Must be at least eighteen (18) years old with six (6) months of driving experience Must be able to understand and follow instructions, written and verbal Must be willing and able to act in a parental/supervisory capacity to communicate and enforce standards of behavior of students on the bus Must be aware and able to respond to basic medical needs identified in an IEP, with training provided, as required Essential Job Functions: Assists the bus driver with the safety, movement, management and care of the children boarding the school bus, leaving the bus or being transported Seats self in an area on the bus to ensure observation of all passengers at all times and ensures they are following school bus safety rules Assists the school bus driver in reporting infractions of school bus safety Is aware of problems between students and keeping those students separated by assigning seats When working on a school bus equipped with a wheelchair lift, operates the lift for loading and unloading of wheelchairs and also ensures that the wheelchair is properly secured on the school bus Is responsible for securing students who ride in child restraint seats, etc. Attends school bus safety meetings Assists bus driver with pre-trip and post-trip inspections Maintains a high standard of student conduct at all times Assists driver in keeping the bus clean and inspect for damages and repairs on a daily basis Ensures that a child takes his/her belongings with him/her when departing the bus Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor Physical and Cognitive Requirements: The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Moore County Schools. Work in this classification is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to: walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch work in various inside and outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards and atmospheric conditions. use visual acuity required for depth perception and color perception visually inspect small defects and/or small parts use a variety of measuring devices assemble or fabricate parts at or within arm's length operate motor vehicles operate job specific equipment, per instructions, to determine servicing requirements for parts and systems observe general surroundings and activities hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels use communication by means of spoken word to express or exchange ideas safely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized personal protective equipment
