Travel RN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Post-Surgical night shift position at a hospital in Hickory, NC, requiring at least 2 years of med/surg experience and Cerner proficiency. Job Details • Night shift position, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, • 13-week contract, • Post-Surgical North floor of a 355-bed acute care hospital, • Adult and geriatric medical/surgical patient population, • Common diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, diabetic complications, wound care, pancreatitis, sickle cell crisis, end-of-life/hospice care, falls, weakness, sepsis, and infection, • Patient ratio of 1:5-1:6 on an 18-bed unit, • Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and PCA pumps, • EMR: Cerner (experience required), • Every other weekend required, • Floating required as needed to surgical, neuro, and intermediate units (med/surg level patients), • No on-call requirements, Job Requirements • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current BLS certification required (RQI certifications are not accepted), • Minimum 2 years of med/surg nursing experience required, • Cerner EMR experience required, • IV competency required, • Post-surgical patient experience required; orthopedic experience strongly preferred, • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, • Social Security number required for consideration, • Date of birth required for consideration, Additional Information • Candidate must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position, • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible, • Candidates may not be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment, • Orientation is offered twice monthly, • Charge nurse experience is preferred, • Team players and strong patient advocates who can thrive in a fast-paced environment are encouraged to apply, • Any scrub color is acceptable, • The facility is home to specialty centers including a Brain Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, Orthopedics, General and Vascular Surgery, and a Level 3 NICU
