Director of the Allied Health Department Required: A master’s degree in an Allied Health–related field (e.g., Nursing, Allied Health Education, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Occupational Therapy) with five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare education, accreditation, program development, or clinical coordination. Preferred: Leadership experience in higher education including accreditation oversight, multi-program administration, supervision of faculty or staff, budgeting, rural health workforce partnerships, and oversight of dual credit or early college pathways. Equivalency: A bachelor’s degree in a closely related field with seven (7) years of relevant professional experience directly related to the duties outlined may be considered. Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department. More information on SENMC can be obtained from its website at Purpose and Scope Under the administrative direction of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), the Director of Allied Health provides strategic leadership, oversight, and operational management for all Allied Health programs at Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC). These programs include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Surgical Technology, Phlebotomy, Health Information Technology (HIT), and the development of new programs such as Radiography. The Director oversees Allied Health dual credit programs offered at Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School and supports strategic expansion to additional school districts as regional needs evolve. The Director conducts ongoing community and regional healthcare needs assessments to identify gaps, workforce demands, and opportunities for new Allied Health program development and expansion. The Director leads accreditation activities, faculty and staff workload oversight, course and program scheduling, clinical partnerships, curricular alignment with current evidence-based practices and education outcomes, assessment planning, fiscal management, and continuous improvement efforts that align with SENMC’s mission. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership, Program Oversight, and Strategic Development Provide overall leadership and administrative oversight for all Allied Health programs and initiatives. Assign and oversee faculty and staff workload distribution to ensure equitable and efficient teaching and administrative responsibilities. Lead courses, program, and semester scheduling across Allied Health disciplines, including dual credit offerings at Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School. Oversee all Allied Health dual credit programs at Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School, including faculty credentialing, curriculum alignment, and compliance with state dual credit requirements. Develop a strategic framework for expanding Allied Health dual credit pathways to additional regional school districts based on community needs assessment and available workforce pipelines. Develop, launch, and sustain new Allied Health programs aligned with regional workforce demand, accreditation requirements, and institutional goals. Conduct formal community and regional healthcare needs assessments to determine which new Allied Health programs SENMC should pursue to meet local and rural workforce shortages. Expand and strengthen existing programs through curriculum updates, new credentials, simulation development, and partnerships with educational and healthcare partners. Accreditation, Assessment, and Compliance Ensure all Allied Health programs maintain compliance with accreditation, affiliation, state, and national regulatory bodies. Oversee program review, learning outcomes assessment, licensure exam alignment, and continuous improvement. Maintain and develop policies, procedures, and documentation required for accreditation visits, regulatory reporting, and dual credit program compliance. Clinical Partnerships, Dual Credit Partnerships, and Community Engagement Establish, renew, and expand clinical affiliation agreements with hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, laboratories, and rural healthcare partners. Collaborate with Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School administrators, counselors, and instructors to ensure high-quality Allied Health dual credit instruction. Represent SENMC at local, regional, and state healthcare councils, advisory boards, school district meetings, and community forums. Conduct employer outreach to design responsive educational pathways that address regional workforce shortages. Faculty and Staff Support Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate full-time and adjunct Allied Health faculty, including dual credit instructors. Provide guidance to faculty regarding workload expectations, curriculum development, instructional quality, and compliance with SENMC academic policies. Provide professional development opportunities regarding clinical teaching, assessment, regulations, dual credit requirements, and emerging healthcare trends. Support faculty in credentialing, certification renewals, and continuing education. Operations, Student Support, and Administration Oversee clinical scheduling, skills lab operations, equipment procurement, inventory, and safety standards. Manage program budgets, grants, and cost center operations. Support student recruitment, advising, dual credit enrollment processes, retention strategies, and licensure exam preparation. Use data-informed decision-making to track enrollment, dual credit trends, completion rates, and workforce outcomes. Other Responsibilities Participate in college governance by serving on college committees, task forces, workgroups, and accreditation teams as assigned. Support the Vice President for Academic Affairs in academic planning, innovation efforts, dual credit coordination, and partnership development. Perform other duties as assigned in response to institutional, regulatory, and regional workforce needs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of healthcare education, accreditation processes, clinical operations, dual credit regulations, and state educational policies. Experience overseeing or coordinating high school dual credit or early college programs, preferably in Allied Health disciplines. Experience conducting community or regional needs assessments, labor market analysis, or healthcare workforce studies. Experience launching and managing health programs in higher education or healthcare settings. Understanding of rural health challenges, community-based healthcare delivery, and district-level education partnerships. Ability to lead multiple programs with diverse accreditation and instructional requirements. Skill in building relationships with hospitals, clinics, school districts, and community organizations. Excellent organizational, supervisory, and project management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data systems, and learning management systems. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage dynamic priorities.
