About the Role (Retail Buyer): We are seeking a strategic, detail-obsessed Retail Buyer with advanced technical skills whos ready to elevate cannabis retail purchasing in the NJ and MA markets. This role partners daily with vendors, retail operators, and leadership to ensure we have the right product, in the right quantities, at the right price, at the right time. Success in this role means confidently using data and inventory analytics alongside deep knowledge of local markets and emerging consumer trends to drive smart buying decisions. The Retail Buyer will manage hundreds of SKUs across all categories, maintain healthy inventory levels, and cultivate high-performing relationships throughout the organization and across our vendor network. How youll make a difference (required duties and responsibilities): Data driven purchasing, order building, and multi-location sales analysis to optimize inventory carry, inventory turn, state-level bulk purchasing, cost efficiency, maximizing negotiated vendor discounts and programs. Manage the full inventory lifecycle across locations, including stock level monitoring, sellable inventory accuracy, product movement tracking, and maintenance of accurate product menus. Analyze data from various sources to identify top-selling brands and strains/flavors, shaping a targeted inventory purchase plan for each dispensary. Continuously evaluate inventory performance and processes, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize inventory turnover. Proactively seek, track, and reconcile vendor credits and pricing discrepancies to ensure accurate financial recovery and strong vendor accountability. Manage the flow of critical product details, menu updates, and vendor-specific information to retail teams throughout the footprint. Serve as the central point of contact to ensure consistent, timely, and accurate information sharing across region. Establish and maintain a comprehensive purchase and delivery schedule for both in-house and third-party products, ensuring dispensaries are consistently supplied. Work closely with cross-functional teams to align inventory strategy with the needs of both retail and wholesale operations. Stay informed about industry trends and new manufacturers to identify innovative products for The Botanist, and educate retail dispensary teams on new offerings. Partner with the National Director of Retail and Sr. Retail Marketing and Operations Manager on Pricing & Promotions to conduct costing and ROI analyses for promotions with third-party vendors Demonstrate critical thinking and good judgment to make good business decisions that drive positive business results Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Perform related duties as assigned by your manager Travel up to 25%. Skills to be Successful (minimum qualifications): Education and Experience Must be 21 years of age or older Bachelor's degree required 3+ years of retail buying, merchandising, planning or related experience Experience analyzing data and using it to make sound business decisions Proficient knowledge and understanding of procurement, logistics and inventory management practices Experience working independently and as part of a team to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Computers and Technology Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Proficiency with inventory systems and office equipment Salary $65000 - $85000 USD per year recblid 65d0mk8uq731utb2f94jlskhry1pwe
