Job Description Code: 5E.020 Division/Department: Support Services Pay Grade: Coordinator Pay Type: Salaried; Exempt Retirement: TRS Contract Work Year: 233 Days Reports To: Executive Director of Transportation Evaluation Instrument: PEIMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred, must have valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator's license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties of Cherokee County Board of Education: to be acquired within 120 days of employment or as scheduling permits. Minimum of five years working in a transportation field, with school transportation preferred. Excellent communication skills, computer skills, ability to manage a large number of employees and patience to work with all types of individuals. GOAL Supervise, coordinate and manage transportation operations in the School District. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the primary communications contact in the transportation department; and efficiently respond to all public concerns regarding school bus driver/personnel or transportation operations; informing the Director of Transportation regarding situations that need immediate attention. Supervise and evaluate assigned employees, provide professional development and training to ensure employee performance meets acceptable standards. Coordinate employee work schedules and bus assignments. Ensure proper staffing of all required positions. Supervise and manage the Department of Transportation Drug Testing Program. Supervise and maintain accurate documentation for all Motor Vehicle Records and processes. Ensure complete and adequate training programs are conducted for new and experienced drivers. Ensure that the Director of Transportation is informed regarding new procedures, or issues that require critical attention. Assist in preparing the annual budget for the transportation department. Provide necessary reports and information to appropriate supervisors. Professionally represent the School District at meetings, conferences and conventions. Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position. Operate School District owned vehicles and equipment in a safe manner and assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle. Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner. Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignment. Review current developments, literature and technical sources and information related to job responsibilities. Ensure adherence to good safety practices. Follow federal and state laws as well as Board policies. Perform other duties as assigned.
