Position Summary:Performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. Maintain quality patient care in compliance with San Ysidro Health Core Values. Operate available x-ray equipment to produce quality images of the body.Essential Functions of the Job:Positions imaging equipment and adjust controls to set voltage, current, exposure time and distance in accordance with the specifications of the examinations ordered by the providersCollaborates with Care Team personnel to provide timely and quality servicesReviews and evaluates computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposesExplains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scanDemonstrates strong working knowledge of physiology and anatomy to capture proper views of the affected areas as described by the provider ordersAssists in the identification of problems and submits recommendations to Technical Supervisor and Clinic Services ManagerInterprets statutes, rules, policies, and regulations regarding radiation safety as requiredResponsible for the proper maintenance of all records relating to licensing and registration of radiation producing machinesProvides and schedules preventive maintenance to equipment and monitors its operationMaintains complete and accurate medical records to ensure access to records that facilitate continuity of care for patientsParticipates in the standardization of imaging services policies and proceduresProvides assistance in dressing or changing seriously ill, injured, or disabled patientsAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standardsDemonstrates knowledge of current state and federal radiation control laws and regulationsEnhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshopsPerforms other related duties as assigned or requestedJob RequirementsExperience Required:6-months experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an outpatient settingEducation Required:High School Diploma or GED equivalentAmerican Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT) ExamCertifications Required:California Radiology Technologist - Radiography (CRT-R) LicenseBasic Life Support (BLS) CertificationVerbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsAbility to convey ideas and information to others and receive feedback effectivelyTechnical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:Demonstrate ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate in working with communities of colorDemonstrate respect for diversityExercise tact, objectivity, sensitivity, strategy, and judgment in dealing with a variety of people with a variety of co-occurring disordersOrganize, establish priorities, and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibilityAbility to follow directions accuratelyEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, other professional staff, and the publicEquipment Used:Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Radiography (CR) X-ray equipmentPicture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)Radiology Information System (RIS)Electronic Health Record (EHR)General office equipment to include computers, phones, copy machines and fax machines, etc.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens subject to varying and unpredictable situationsExposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens and patientsWearing protective personal equipment such as gloves, face shield, lab coats, gogglesWorking around lab equipment such as centrifuge and office equipmentSubject to electrical and radiant energy hazardsFrequent prolonged standing/walking; Lifting 0-20 lbs.; Carrying 0-20 lbs.; Bending, kneeling, climbing, pulling 0-10 lbs., repetitive use of hands, sample grasping, reaching body and hand twisting Occasionally subjected to irregular hours; may be required to work some evenings/weekendsTravel to other clinics may be required based on business needUniversal Requirements:Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
