Supervisor, Litigation Claims Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for a Litigation Supervisor to join our Claims Legal team located in Buffalo, New York. The Supervisor, Litigation Claims will become part of a dedicated management team focusing on leadership and mentoring of Litigation Adjusters. The Litigation Supervisor will assist the Litigation Manager in the direction of the objectives of minimizing the indemnity and expense impact to the Company in accordance with the Claim Department and Corporate goals. Merchants offers its colleagues a Hybrid work schedule. The Hybrid work schedule requires 2 full days per week in the office, with the option to work the remaining days at home or in the office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage and mentor litigation adjusters to achieve individual and team performance goals. Oversee daily claim activities, including file review, investigation, and negotiation. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Ensures compliance to performance standards and proper claim evaluation and settlement procedures. Ensures that all reserve evaluations are completed properly and timely. Also ensures that sound adjusting practices are adhered within the unit. Litigation Supervisor may also be responsible for the timely investigation, evaluation, and equitable resolution through settlement or litigation of approximately 10 15 claims. Track and analyze team performance metrics, ALAE, cycle times, and productivity. Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement. Develop and implement strategies to improve outcomes. Stay current regarding trends in case law as well as statutory and regulatory changes impacting liability claims handling or coverage interpretation. Qualifications & Skills: Qualified candidates will have a 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience. 3-5 years of experience in auto and property claims, or a related field, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of insurance principles, claims handling, and subrogation processes. Professional designations or working towards industry specific designations are a plus. Proficiency in claims management systems and software tools. Ability to analyze data and develop actionable strategies to improve outcomes. Exceptional organizational, time management, desk management, communication and negotiation skills are required. Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale. The estimated salary for this role ranges from $95,000 - $120,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience and qualifications.
