Shipping Supervisor

Buffalo-based Manufacturer of screening media and accessories for the aggregate and mining industries is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to join our growing organization.RESPONSIBILITIES:Act as primary floor support to Shipping Associates.Coordinate movement of priority orders from Production to Shipping.Train all new and current employees.Handle any necessary disciplinary action in conjunction with higher management.Prioritize and assign jobs/supervise job execution.Outline, advise and inspect packaging to ensure highest quality and appropriateness.Manage all shipping materials as well as requests for new materials.Coordinate flow of materials with Purchasing department and resolve issues with quality of materials.Manage the appropriate use of floor space and shelving units to ensure proper storage of materials (including items for resale) and orders that are to be shipped.Resolve discrepancies in orders or items being shipped.Coordinate the inspection of all items that require inspection prior to shipping.Advise appropriate carrier as well as type of transit for orders not specifying ship agent in advance. This calls for an understanding of carrier territories and product-appropriate shipping, i.e. UPS Ground packages versus palletized shipments.Review pending and upcoming shipments to anticipate loading, space or packaging issues.REQUIREMENTS:2 Years-experience in a supervisory role in logistics or similar field.Strong computer skills.Excellent communication skills.Forklift experience.Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.SALARY:$24.00-$27.00 per hour
