Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Position Title Research Technician Classification Title Research Technician I Department Psychology Posting Number R250132 Posting Link Employer Research Foundation Position Type RF Clerical/Technical Job Type Full-Time Appointment Term Salary Grade N.4 Posting Detail Information Position Summary The Meyer Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University at Buffalo is seeking a full-time Research Technician to contribute to ongoing research in behavioral genetics and neuropsychopharmacology. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in animal models of motivation and addiction and will include extensive training in rodent surgery, behavioral models of neuropsychiatric disorders, and neurobiological methods. Key accountabilities and responsibilities * Conduct animal surgeries, drug administration, and tissue collection * Conduct behavioral testing using rat models of learning, memory, and motivation * Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and outcomes * Manage inventory and order lab supplies * Care for and monitor laboratory animals following laboratory protocols * Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces The University at Buffalo is a flagship institution in the SUNY system, known for strong interdisciplinary research and a commitment to inclusive excellence. Minimum Qualifications * Education towards a degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, or a related field * At least one year of experience in a laboratory setting * Familiarity with rodent handling and behavioral experiments * Strong organizational and communication skills * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively * Availability for evening and weekend work Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, or a related field * Experience with jugular catheterizations in rats is highly desired * Experience with stereotaxic surgery, histology, or neuropharmacology * Experience with behavioral software (e.g., Med Associates) * Interest in long-term research involvement (minimum 2 years) Physical Demands Salary Range $34,151- $46,000 Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
