The role: The Dispatcher is responsible for managing processes to satisfy customers and traffic demands. The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of the Brooklyn area and be comfortable working with the Internet within windows-based software systems. The candidate should have some knowledge of route optimization software (i.e. TransAPP). The candidate should have the ability to think strategically with a high level of patience while dealing with critical situations. Strong analytic, communication and problem-solving skills are a must. Responsibilities: * Creates and optimizes delivery routes based on driver efficiency , delivery window, and geographic location * Communicates with Outbound leadership and transportation management team on Plant and courier performance * Completes recaps on the operation's performance * Manage communication from the customer service group to the field team and vendor POC. * Responsible for running route optimization software daily to schedule each day's route. Education and Qualifications: * Must be able to type 20 wpm * Must be familiar with Microsoft products (at least basic familiarity with computers) * Must be able to speak, read and write in English * Must be able to lift 50 lbs. min. * Must have at least 1-2 years' experience in transportation or dispatch-related position * Must have the ability to organize and assimilate information, think on feet, react to unforeseen problems, and make decisions in ambiguous circumstances * Must be comfortable working in a team environment * Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment * Ability to manage the relationship with 3rd party vendors * Must be flexible to work holidays, nights and weekends if needed * Must be able to work nights and overnights * Must be detailed oriented * High level of urgency * Ability to handle escalated issues Note: The hourly range for this role is $19.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary based on many factors including but not limited to candidate experience, and skills.
