This role ensures compliance with all health, safety, and organizational guidelines and is ideal for someone passionate about serving others in a mission-driven organization making a meaningful impact in New York City.ResponsibilitiesThe Kitchen Aide ensures that members receive meals in a timely, respectful, and efficient manner while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and order throughout the kitchen and dining areas. This role supports all aspects of meal service, including preparation, distribution, and cleanup, and assists with the setup and breakdown of programs and activities. The Kitchen Aide is expected to uphold high sanitation standards, provide courteous assistance to members, and collaborate with staff and volunteers to support daily operations and a welcoming environment.Primary Responsibilities:Partner with the Center Director to ensure compliance with NYC Department for the Aging and NYC Board of Health regulations related to food service and facility standards Partner with the Center Director to ensure compliance with NYC Department for the Aging and NYC Board of Health regulations related to food service and facility standards Prepare, handle, and serve meals; receive food deliveries and monitor temperatures upon arrival and during service Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the kitchen, dining areas, and center Clean, sanitize, and store all utensils, dishes, and food service equipment Wash, sanitize, and reset dining areas after meals; disinfect tables and chairs Sweep and mop kitchen, dining room, and common areas Set up and break down dining and program spaces, including tables, chairs, and equipment Secondary Responsibilities:Attend and participate in staff meetings and required trainings Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Center Director, designee, or Director of Senior Services Administrative Responsibilities:Participate in regular supervision with supervisor Attend required trainings as necessaryWhat You'll BringMust have completed the Board of Health (BOH) Food Preparation Course or be able to complete within first 3 months of employment.Must be able to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs. and spend a significant portion of the shift on their feet.Capacity to learn basic tasks and to understand written and oral communications.Ability to work effectively and patiently with seniors and volunteers.Employment Details Program: Heights and Hills - Park Slope Center for Successful Aging Location: Onsite, 463A 7th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215 Schedule: 20 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Employment Type: Part-TimeReports To: Center Director Union Representation: Non-UnionSalary Range The expected rate for this position is $22.45 per hour.
