About Kings Against Violence Initiative (KAVI)KAVI is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) youth-serving organization with a mission to prevent and eliminate interpersonal violence from the lives of young people through advocacy, peer leadership, community mobilization, and social justice. KAVI promotes community wellness and healing by operating high-impact youth violence prevention and intervention programs in Central Brooklyn. Our programs take place in hospital-based, school, and community settings. We are a fast-paced, rapidly growing nonprofit organization. About Sexual Violence Prevention ProgramAll KAVI team members should act professionally. KAVI has run school programs since its start, addressing youth admitted to the Emergency Department with high-risk factors for violence. Our Sexual Violence Prevention program offers prevention and intervention using a trauma-informed approach, helping young people understand violence's impact and choose alternative behaviors. Since 2022, we have integrated social justice, restorative practices, and trauma-informed care into our curriculum to enhance our understanding of violence and support for youth. KAVIs Sexual Violence Prevention program is the newest part of our initiatives. We develop community engagement activities that unite families and neighbors to discuss and take action on violence prevention. Our programs assist community members in advocating for youth, understanding and practicing restorative justice, and participating in collective healing. In the past year, our programs have sought to broaden our work to support Central Brooklyns resilience. A top priority of our community work is to create stronger linkages with the Brooklyn community, schools, residents, and the SUNY Downstate/KCH Medical community through youth development programming, advocacy, and engagement. Job Description:In this position, the Sexual Violence Prevention Program Assistant (SVPPA) will support the coordinator to provide a full range of services to those impacted by gender based violence, and their families. These services may include short-term crisis intervention, community referrals, orientation to gender based violence, education and more. The SVPPA will divide their time between the Restoration Plaza office and the larger community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Correspondence with internal team members and external partners and vendors.Assist with program-related administrative activities, including scheduling events, distributing information, tracking outcomes, maintaining program attendance, stipend & timesheet procedures, and managing program calendars and mailing lists.Facilitate/co-facilitate youth-centered workshops on sexual health and wellness topics Assist in the preparation of the SVP curriculum.Assist with field trips and special activities and events.Regularly assess the safety and well-being of all the participants.Assist in preparing documents and tracking data related to funder requirements (e.g., HRA, DOHMH, HUD), including census logs, rent ledgers, and occupancy reports.Take detailed and accurate meeting minutes for SVP team meetings.Represent KAVI at external and internal meetings and events.Assist with special projects and perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications & Competencies Minimum of two (2) years of relevant nonprofit administrative experience, including program coordination, or similar administrative role.Able to engage and work with individuals and organizations of diverse backgroundsDetail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Solution-oriented, able to think creatively to address challenges and obstacles Impeccable sense of professionalism and ability to positively represent the organizationStrong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite & Zoom.Office experience, including data entry, typing & strong phone skills. Excellent time management skills; the ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities. Flexibility and willingness to adjust and respond to changing situations.
