The Role The Vice President of Delivery Operations will lead FreshDirect's end-to-end last-mile delivery organization, with full accountability for the performance, scalability, and continuous improvement of the delivery network. This leader will oversee all aspects of delivery execution, including routing, dispatch, field operations, and remote operations, ensuring a seamless and reliable experience for customers across every delivery touchpoint. This leader is responsible for driving delivery performance, service quality, and cost efficiency, while partnering closely with cross-functional teams across labor planning, safety, customer experience, and operations to ensure alignment and operational excellence across the network. This role requires a strong focus on balancing customer satisfaction with disciplined cost management and productivity optimization. The Vice President of Delivery Operations will lead and develop a multi-layered organization, including Directors, Shift Managers, Field Managers, and delivery teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance. A key priority for this role is building leadership capability at all levels while creating an environment grounded in open communication, coaching, and continuous development. This leader will be expected to analyze complex operational challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical, data-driven solutions that enhance delivery efficiency and reliability. They will also lead the execution of key operational initiatives and change efforts to support business growth and evolving customer expectations. What You'll Do * Lead all last-mile delivery operations, including fleet management, driver workforce, routing, dispatch, and field execution, ensuring seamless coordination across on-the-road and remote operations. Drive consistency, reliability, and operational excellence across the entire delivery network. * Drive operational performance across key metrics such as on-time delivery, cost per order, route productivity, and overall service quality. Establish clear performance targets, monitor results through data and reporting, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. * Partner cross-functionally with planning and technology teams to optimize routing, scheduling, and capacity planning. Leverage data, tools, and systems to improve delivery density and enhance the scalability and responsiveness of the delivery network. * Oversee safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements for fleet and driver operations, ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Promote a strong safety culture through training, accountability, and proactive risk management to protect employees, customers, and the business. * Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing delivery operations organization across multiple layers of management, including Directors, Managers, and frontline teams. * Build leadership capability, strengthen employee engagement and retention, and foster a culture of accountability, coaching, and continuous development. * Oversee financial performance for the Transportation division, including cost control and operational efficiency initiatives What You'll Bring * Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline, or equivalent experience * 10+ years of professional work experience, including significant leadership experience in operations, logistics, or last-mile delivery * 7+ years of people leadership experience, managing multi-level teams within an operational environment * 7+ years of experience within e-commerce, grocery delivery, logistics, or transportation preferred * Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations while balancing service excellence, operational efficiency, and cost control * Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, develop, and engage teams at all levels of the organization * Proven ability to analyze operational challenges and implement effective solutions * Strong analytical, leadership, and strategic thinking capabilities * · A leadership style that reflects and reinforces the values and culture of FreshDirect Our Values at FreshDirect We live these values every day: A Passion for our customers Our customers are at the heart of everything we do.
