Job Description: The Recovery Navigator provides peer recovery support services to patients with substance use disorder (SUD), assisting them in achieving and maintaining sustained recovery. This role facilitates patient access to recovery-oriented treatment, community resources, and support groups, bridging the gap between segregated treatment systems and a holistic care approach. The Navigator serves as a motivator, ally, role model, problem-solver, and advocate, maintaining ongoing support regardless of relapse. This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of ongoing funding, with the current grant scheduled to end in 2036. The position's funding will be reviewed annually from the date of hire.SALARY: Pay Rate: $45,000 - $49,140 Annually, commensurate with experienceFull-time, 35 hours per week, benefited, non-unit positionBargaining Unit: N/ATo view the respective collective bargaining agreement please click here.REPORTS TO: Community Engagement DivisionSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/AESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide peer recovery support to individuals with SUD.Facilitate patient access to treatment, recovery groups, and community resources.Maintain support for patients through relapse and recovery challenges.Advocate for patients and serve as a trusted mentor and role model.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote holistic care.Help tailor health messaging and recovery planning to the patient's cultural and personal context.Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in all interactionsA strong understanding of community culture is essential to address barriers to recovery and connect patients with appropriate resources.Other duties as assigned or required.Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE:Bachelor's degree required; a minimum of two (2) years in sustained recovery from SUD or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.A valid driver's license is required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamStrong advocacy skills and knowledge of community-based services and recovery resources.Comfort with multiple pathways to recovery and a patient-centered approach.Experience working in social service or behavioral health settings.Understanding of motivational enhancement techniques.Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet research.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and staff while supporting and fostering a welcoming culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion among diverse audiences.Ability to support and create a welcoming culture of diversity, equity and inclusion amongst diverse audiences, including department staff, elected officials, and the public.Empathetic, culturally competent, and respectful of patient diversity.Motivated to foster positive recovery outcomes and long-term wellness.Additional Information: Comprehensive BenefitsWhen you embark on a career with the City of Brockton, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
