We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, meticulous, and has a passion for food.What You Will Do:Collaborate with our cross-functional teams to learn about the roles and responsibilities of each department throughout the organization and gain an understanding of the processes required to launch new products.Learn about the operational complexities and common development hurdles related to commercial manufacturing.Develop and manage external technical relationships with our suppliers and other potential partners to advance internal capabilities and look for competitive differentiation and mutual business benefits.Partner with the Procurement team for new ingredient sourcing, exploring both new and existing suppliers for innovative solutions, alternative sources, and competitive pricing.Execute all product development strategies in alignment with company objectives, ensuring innovative product solutions.Create new recipes and reformulations of current products based on customer requests and guidelines. Write processing and batching instructions to create a stable product that will run well in full production.Perform and elevate formulation risk assessments to Product Development Manager, citing specific operational hurdles, cost implications, issues with product quality or stability, ingredient or equipment restrictions.Generate and maintain product formulation workbooks. and nutritional facts panels through use of our Formulator program.Contribute to all recordkeeping measures through internal systems such as project management via and cross-functional meetings.Perform analytical testing on product development batches and ensure product stability and manufacturability. Recommend changes to formulations if needed, both at a development level and commercialization level.Maintain organization of the lab and kitchen areas.Packaging and ingredient inventory, collection, and ordering from outside storage facilities.Finished sample retention inventory and tracking.New materials labeling and storage.Understand and implement customer strategies provided by the Business Development Team and PD Manager. Including potential process improvements throughout development and commercialization.Provide hands-on oversight for trial batches and full production runs and manage associated communications. This includes cross functional team recaps, change request forms, and in-process/post-process troubleshooting.Schedule and lead product cuttings for new developments and trial batches with cross-functional teams including product development, business development, commercialization and operations.Occasional customer meetings such as calls and in-person meetings to discuss product development and project launches.Maintain cross functional relationships with Procurement, Business Development team, Executive Leadership team, Quality Assurance, Technical Services and Operations.Occasional kettle work as needed.What You Will Bring: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Microbiology, Culinary Science, or related areas is preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years of Product Development (R&D) experience within the food manufacturing industry. Experience related to the following categories is preferred: dressings, marinades, condiments, salsa, pasta sauce, and/or international sauces.Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Advanced communication and collaboration skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with prominent levels of creativity and self-motivation.Strong organizational skills including data analysis, R&D documentation, report and presentation creation.Ability to travel as needed for trials, supplier meetings and customer presentations.
