Category: Staff Show Job Details for Captain, Police Apply Now for Captain, Police This is a responsible supervisory, administrative, and technical police position performed in the field and at police headquarters. As a sworn law enforcement officer, an employee in this classification is subject to hazardous duty in times of emergency or when necessitated by circumstances. The position requires full and continuous training as a law enforcement officer so that the employee can respond appropriately in emergency situations. Duties and Responsibilities Include: * Clery/Minger requirements/ASR community relations, Everbridge text alerts and campus notifications. * Overseeing the Communications officers, personnel time keeping as well as ensuring all dispatchers are knowledgeable with the policies and directives contained in the WKU Police Operations Manual. * Patrol operations-shift work as needed. * Public speaking by being responsible for giving and scheduling crime prevention seminars and informal discussions on crime preventive measures to interested groups, residence halls and departments on and off campus and news interviews. * Acting as a liaison between civilian event staff, and the police department. * Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: * High School Diploma or GED equivalent. * At least 3 years of experience at a police sergeant's level or above within the WKU PD or another police department. * Must have must attend APS, CJED or leadership courses equivalent to the aforementioned classes. * Positive attitude, strong work ethic and teamwork oriented.
