Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization. Ensure conditions involving security, safety, and food safety are consistently maintained at the highest levels.Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for hiring, training, and developing associatesManage performance through performance management, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary effortsProvide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and StrategyMaintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast and easy customer serviceEnsure proper control of all store funds and company assetsObserve and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidentsObserve and ensure compliance with company security, safety, and food safety standardsUnderstand and use company tools such as; financial reports, average cost inventory system (ACIS), scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systemsSupport the achievement of store budgeted financial and operating resultsServe as Manager on Duty, perform all of the responsibilities of the Store Manager when he or she is not presentAssist the Store Manager with the day-to-day operations of the entire storeServe as a model for customer service and other vital behaviors and instill this value in all associatesAdhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practicesManage and develop associates to ensure adherence to Standard PracticesMaximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through proper utilization of Standard PracticesEnsure store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety and execution of all policies and proceduresEnsure compliance with local, state and federal regulationsEnsure that staffing schedules across departments meet the business needsInteracts with associates; ensure associates understand Food Lion's expectations and have the tools and training to be successfulSuccessfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid coursesTreat all store information as strictly confidentialPerform all other duties and projects as assignedQualifications:College degree or equivalent preferredDepartment Manager or equivalent experience requiredStrong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniquesExcellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsAbility and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the jobGood judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievancesDesire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departmentsMust be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodationsMust meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functionsMust be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.
