Qualifications: Holds or is eligible for New Jersey School Psychologist Certificate. Job Goal: The School Psychologist evaluates students and collaborates with the Child Study Team to develop recommendations for appropriate programming, instructional supports, and related services for students eligible for Special Education services. Reports to: Supervisor of Special Education Key Responsibilities: * Performs evaluations of referred and classified students with appropriate evaluative practices. * Participates with teachers, school counselors, and other Child Study Team members in case conferences, regular staff meetings, parental conferences, and all required CST/IEP meetings. * Confers annually with students and appropriate personnel in constituent elementary districts to prepare schedules for students who will become the responsibility of our district in the next school year. * Participates in the recommendation and modification of program and placement for classified students. * Assists parents/guardians and students and represents the District in working with school and community agencies. * Provides all case management services to students on caseload or as assigned. * Communicates with appropriate school personnel to improve their understanding of the needs of classified and non-classified students. * Participates in the annual development of Individualized Educational Programs for students. * Collaborates with parents/guardians and students to create a positive interaction between the home and the school. * Maintains an accurate account of significant daily contacts which are made with parents/guardians and students and related professionals. * Maintains a professional relationship with students and parents/guardians which contributes to a positive school atmosphere. * Accepts responsibility for conforming with departmental and school procedures. * Contributes to overall school program. * Participates in In-Service programs. * Maintains and enhances professional skills and best practices. * Performs all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Education or Principal.
