Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) | Blacksburg, Virginia

A leadership opportunity is available for a Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) at a newly established long-term care pharmacy site in Virginia. This direct hire position requires a Virginia pharmacist license already in hand, as well as extensive prior experience in long-term care (LTC) pharmacy operations, preferably with a leadership background. Location: Candidates should be based outside of Roanoke or from neighboring Virginia and North Carolina areas to support expansion efforts. The pharmacy operates 24/7, with primary shifts currently from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. (third shift details pending). Key Responsibilities: Oversee all pharmacy administrative duties, uphold pharmacy standard operating procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws. Supervise inventory management to avoid medication expiration or deterioration. Implement and maintain quality assurance programs and organizational policies. Review prescriptions for accuracy and legality. Maintain an active presence on the pharmacy floor, supporting team members and operational needs. Build and motivate a diverse team consisting of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and administrative staff to meet productivity goals. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Virginia pharmacist license must be current and active. Minimum of 5 years of LTC pharmacy experience, with preference given to those who have held leadership roles. Strong operational expertise, especially in launching or managing new pharmacy sites. Proficiency with pharmacy software such as Frameworks and DocuTrack, plus MS Office skills. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a team-oriented environment. A degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacology. This is a direct hire opportunity with a growing pharmacy team of approximately 40 staff members.
