Medical Records Specialist

Job SummaryThis is a position that is located at The Eye Clinic of North Dakota in Bismarck. This position you will be handling all aspects of medical records to meet the needs of physicians, patients, family, and regulatory agencies.Responsibilities and DutiesPrimary Duties:Prior authorizations (primarily veteran support)Patient records releasesReferring patient information to coordinate with outside physiciansPreparing chart information for satellite locationsMaintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidence related to all servicesMust be able to work independentlyAdditional Duties May Include:Provide clinic support for overflow phone coverage that will entail patient registrationProviding coverage to check in patients and collect demographic informationQualifications and SkillsEducation: High School Degree required, post High School education preferred.Licensure: Prior medical environment experience preferred, but not required.Experience: Phone experience related to handling payments and scheduling preferred.Must possess strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.Must be a problem solver with ability to collect and analysis information.Must have good organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to work as a team member.Must be able to speak fluent English.Computer literacy is required due to electronic records being used in our office.Physical Effort: Must be to sit to complete tasks, ergonomic accommodations are available.Hours of Work: Monday through Friday.
