UAB AmeriCorps Healthy Futures VISTA The UAB AmeriCorps program is a year-long service and leadership program that provides the opportunity to create and sustain effective and mutually beneficial collaborations with the Birmingham area and rural communities in the Black Belt region of Alabama. Our VISTA program aligns primarily with education, food security, public health, and healthy futures focus areas. The VISTA program also develops programs designed to address educational inequity and economic initiatives in collaboration with community-based organizations. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here. Member Duties : The VISTA Member will enhance the host site's ability to recruit, prepare, and support volunteers. They will also increase the host site's capacity to obtain financial and in-kind support for health-related initiatives. The member will build and maintain relationships with organizations that promote community health. Additionally, the VISTA will share clear and accessible health information while engaging the community through digital tools.
