Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a **Dental Hygienist** to work at a facility in ** ** **Binghamton** **, NY.** These are _registry_ positions with our company. **$100 Sign-On Bonus** **Pay Rate:** $55 / hour *W2 **Shift details:** + M-F 8:00AM-4:30PM OMH Dental Hygienist Position Summary The Dental Hygienist provides dental hygiene services in support of comprehensive oral health care within a state-operated mental health facility. Incumbents perform preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene procedures and work collaboratively with dentists and interdisciplinary treatment staff to promote oral health and support overall patient wellness. Duties Description Duties may include, but are not limited to: - Performing prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and other dental hygiene procedures in accordance with New York State licensure (Section 6606 of the NYS Education Law) and professional standards under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist - Conducting oral health assessments and documenting clinical findings in patient records. - Taking intraoral radiographs and panoramic films. - Providing oral hygiene instruction and preventive education to individuals receiving services. - Assisting dentists during examinations and treatment procedures as needed. - Preparing and maintaining treatment rooms, instruments, and dental equipment. - Maintaining infection control and sterilization standards in accordance with facility policy and regulatory requirements (in compliance with OSHA standards). - Entering accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record. - Monitoring and maintaining dental supplies and assisting with inventory control. - Participating in quality assurance, safety initiatives, and program development activities. - Collaborating with medical, nursing, clinical, and allied health staff to support continuity of care. Minimum Qualifications - Licensure and current registration as a Dental Hygienist in New York State. - Graduation from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). - Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR. Preferred Qualifications - Experience providing dental hygiene services in public health, hospital, or institutional settings. - Experience working with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or complex medical conditions. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team. Hours: We are looking for a full-time 40- hour a week candidate, 8AM-4:30PM Monday through Friday, excluding observed state holidays. However, we would be willing to consider parttime candidates who can work within these hours if no suitable full-time candidates are available. Work Environment This position is located within a state-operated psychiatric facility and requires the ability to provide dental hygiene care to individuals with varying levels of behavioral, psychiatric, and medical complexity. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, professionalism, and adherence to OMH policies and procedures. Operational Needs - Ability to work in a clinical environment serving individuals with mental health diagnoses. - Ability to follow infection control and safety protocols. - Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and interdisciplinary treatment teams. Infection Control Requirements: - ? TB Testing: o ? All prospective HCP are required to complete a two-step TB Skin Test (unless previously tested positive). You must submit documentation. o ? If you previously tested positive on a TB Skin test: You must provide documentation, from your primary care provider, stating a history of a positive TB Skin test result and if treatment was needed/completed. You will also need to provide a negative chest x-ray or a negative QuantiFERON gold test. - ? Immunizations/Antibody Titers: You will need to provide documentation of vaccine administration, or titers, for Hepatitis B, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and Mumps or titers. - ? Seasonal Influenza Vaccination: If it is influenza season, approximately September-May, please provide proof of immunization. Please be aware if you decline to receive the influenza vaccine you will be required to wear a surgical mask at all times.
