Responsibilities of a Border Patrol Agent: Your duties will include: Monitoring and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws. Preventing and apprehending illegal border crossings and trafficking operations. Conducting surveillance and patrolling designated areas. Performing inspections and searches for contraband and evidence. Utilizing various government assets for patrolling borders and waterways. Qualifications: To qualify as a GL-9 Border Patrol Agent, you will need: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-7 level in a law enforcement capacity. For GS-11, you must have: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-9 level that includes significant law enforcement responsibilities. Other Requirements: • Citizenship: U.S. citizen required. • Residency: Must have primary residency in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years. • Age: Candidates must be referred by the time they reach their 40th birthday, unless exempted by prior federal law enforcement service.
