Our established and growing manufacturing client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to become the key technical and safety leader in their beautiful waterfront Benicia facility. This is a high-impact role where you will blend engineering expertise with practical shop-floor leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.If you thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment, enjoy solving real production challenges, and want to see your ideas implemented quickly, this is an excellent opportunity to make a visible impact.NOTE: The company is not providing any type of relocation assistance.What you will do:Evaluate and optimize production workflows to boost efficiency, quality, and output across all work cells.Develop, implement, and maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workmanship standards, and process documentation.Lead root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone, etc.) for production issues and drive lasting corrective actions.Champion Lean initiatives including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Kaizen events to sustain long-term gains.Analyze production data to identify trends and deliver measurable improvements in performance.Serve as the primary technical expert for CNC machinery, woodworking equipment, and facility systems.Support new equipment projects from specification and selection through installation, commissioning, and operator training.Optimize preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.Provide real-time troubleshooting and technical guidance to supervisors and operators on the shop floor.Design and document robust packaging standards to ensure product quality during shipping.Develop incoming material inspection criteria and optimize receiving processes with the warehouse team.Improve material flow and inventory practices to reduce waste and increase operational efficiency.Own safety compliance and culture, including SDS management, chemical waste handling, fire safety, and OSHA/CERS reporting.Lead shop-floor safety initiatives, deliver safety training, and drive participation in hazard identification and near-miss reporting.Proactively identify and mitigate environmental and workplace hazards in a woodworking and finishing environment.Create and deliver effective training programs for new processes, equipment, and safety topics.Partner closely with operations, leadership, and accounting teams on projects that impact facility performance and profitability.Who you are:3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment (process, industrial, or manufacturing engineering role).Proven ability to write clear SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation.Strong working knowledge of EH&S practices, including SDS management, chemical handling, and OSHA requirements.Solid root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and production specifications.Excellent communication and training skills "” comfortable presenting on the shop floor.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel); experience with ERP systems is a plus.Experience in a discreet manufacturing environment, a plus.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.Lean Manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (General Industry).Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).Compensation:$84,000 to $110,000 base salary + bonus opportunity. Final compensation will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant and along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
