About the RoleWorking in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, this role is responsible for the application, development, and demonstration of Kerry ingredient solutions for the bakery industry. The position plays a key role in leading bakery application studies, developing innovative concepts, and supporting customers from early concept through commercialization and plant-level manufacturing.The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in bakery formulations and processes, combined with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and execute bakery application research and new product development, including bench-top, pilot, and plant-level workDevelop bakery concepts with a strong understanding of baking processes, formulations, and processing technologiesMaintain strong working knowledge of Kerry's bakery technology portfolio, including:EnzymesEmulsifiersTexturant systemsTaste solutionsGlazesConventional and natural food preservation systemsFunctional proteinsPartner cross-functionally with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to deliver best-in-class Taste and Nutrition solutionsSupport internal and external customer requests, from ideation through troubleshooting, scale-up, and commercializationBuild strong technical relationships with customers through collaboration with bakery sales and marketing teamsProvide technical support during customer trials, plant trials, and manufacturing scale-upsDocument and communicate results through technical reports, data analysis, and presentationsTechnical Knowledge & ExperienceStrong hands-on experience with bakery formulations in a commercial bakery plant or R&D settingSolid understanding of ingredient functionality in bakery applications, including:Flour, fats/shortenings, eggs, sugars, salt, waterFunctional ingredients for processing, texture, shelf-life, and product qualityKnowledge of a wide range of bakery product types, including:Yeast-raisedChemically leavenedLaminated productsFamiliarity with bakery processing techniques such as:Sheeting, molding, rounding, depositingProofing, frying, bakingContinuous and batch processesDemonstrated ability to use bakery-related analytical and testing equipment, including:Thermal profilingpH measurementViscosity (multiple methods)Specific gravityTexture analysisDough and batter rheologyExperience or willingness to learn specialized cereal and food science equipment, such as:C-Cell or crumb analyzersTexture AnalyzerMixolab or similar dough rheology systemsVolScan or bread volume analyzersRheometersMinimum BSc/MSc in Food Science/ Cereal Science and processing/ related scientific field with experience in data collation, analyses and reporting (verbal and written for technical and non-technical audiences) using a scientific approach.Qualifications and Skill.Industrial experience of 15+ years desirableStrong hands-on experience with bakery formulations in a commercial bakery plant or R&D settingSolid understanding of ingredient functionality in bakery applications, including:Flour, fats/shortenings, eggs, sugars, salt, waterFunctional ingredients for processing, texture, shelf-life, and product qualityThe pay range for this position is $102400 - $190,200 in Annual Salary.Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
