Job Summary The Academic Success Advisor provides holistic academic advising and student support, primarily serving freshmen and sophomore students. Advisors guide students in academic planning, degree progression, and navigating college resources. This role supports student success through proactive outreach, individualized advising, and collaboration with campus partners. Responsibilities Academic Advising & Student Support (60%) * Provide individualized academic advising to a caseload of students, assisting with course selection, degree planning, and academic goal-setting. * Monitor student progress using institutional tools and data (e.g., GPA, alerts, attendance, and risk indicators) to identify and support at-risk students. * Deliver proactive outreach and timely interventions to promote retention and academic success. * Maintain accurate and timely advising records in institutional systems. * Assist students with registration processes, including course selection and schedule adjustments. * Provide responsive, student-centered service by addressing inquiries in a timely and professional manner and ensuring students receive clear, accurate guidance. Workshops, Outreach, & Student Engagement (15%) * Plan, develop, and facilitate workshops on academic success, registration, time management, and related topics. * Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to co-develop and deliver workshops and student programming. * Participate in orientation, registration events, and other student success initiatives. Collaboration & Coordinated Care (15%) * Work closely with faculty, tutoring services, academic coaches, and other support offices to provide coordinated care for students. * Refer students to appropriate campus resources and follow up as needed to ensure engagement. * Participate in academic standing reviews and collaborate on intervention strategies for students in academic difficulty. * Assist, when needed, with recruitment efforts both on and off campus. * Contribute to student success initiatives and retention efforts at the departmental and institutional level. Administrative & Operational Responsibilities (10%) * Maintain knowledge of institutional policies, degree requirements, and academic programs. * Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and continuous improvement efforts. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with primary, secondary, or post-secondary students in instructional or one-on-one settings. Experience in academic advising, student services, or education settings. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of student success trends and challenges. Knowledge of college policies, and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job related software programs. Knowledge of issues and trends related to adult learners. Skill in interpersonal relationships. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in the completion of a variety of reports. Skill in oral and written communication.
