Go to CAPPS Recruit to Sign In DESCRIPTION: Perform highly advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) training work. Instruct students to obtain federal regulation certification to inspect commercial vehicles, teach basic commercial vehicle enforcement courses, provide analysis of federal regulations, and assist customers with questions on detailed federal regulations, state laws and administrative codes. Work under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position.must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Instruct classes for commissioned and non-commissioned personnel, both Department of Public Safety and outside agencies in an effort to obtain certification for those personnel to conduct commercial motor vehicle inspections. 2. Educate Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) personnel regarding various inquiries, federal regulations, state laws and Texas Administrative Codes. 3. Assist certified personnel with recertification training. 4. Communicate, educate, and ensure compliance with Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) standard inspection and out-of-service procedures to ensure statewide uniformity in the inspection process. 5. Analyze new policies, proposed legislation, and implementation of new laws. 6. Present information to other State agencies, elected officials, private industry groups for safety presentations, general questions, while serving as a liaison for the Texas Highway Patrol division. 7. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.8. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School Diploma/equivalent. Experience - Minimum of two (2) years' experience performing Commercial Vehicle Enforcement inspection work, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement instruction, or related duties. Substitution Note: Additional work experience of the type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.Licensure and/or Certification - Must have had previous certification at a minimum of North American Standard Parts A and B.
