Job TitleSenior CMT TechnicianLocationAugusta - Martinez, GA 30907 US (Primary)EducationHigh SchoolCategoryEngineeringJob TypeFull-timeTravelFrequent Travel RequiredJob DescriptionA SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING TECHNICIAN performs field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and structural steel placement and documents findings. Note: All disciplines may not be encountered on every project. Under the direction of more senior technicians or staff professionals and project managers, you will perform routine field and/or laboratory tests and assist in more complex tasks, as required.Soils - In-place density testing using nuclear density gauge or sand cone methods, Proctor [moisture density], Atterberg limits, and sieve analysis methodology.Aggregates - Sampling and performing sieve analysis. Concrete/Grout/Masonry - Sampling and visual observation, performing air content and slump tests, testing compressive and flexural strength, taking tests of mortar and grout, and obtaining core samples.Asphalt - Sampling and performing HMA [hot mix asphalt] tests in both field and laboratory settings using nuclear density gauge and core machines in the field; and solvents and sampling at high temperatures in the laboratory.Perform testing and observations on residential, commercial and federal construction projectsPrepare daily reports on observation activitiesReview observation and test data for accuracy and completenessAssist with training and mentoring of junior staff as neededWork with project engineers and clients to ensure that client specifications are followedDaily travel to project sites is expected, with overnight stays when necessary to meet client schedules. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisorMaintain compliance with all company policies and proceduresJob RequirementsEDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent minimum, Associates in Construction Management or BS in Earth Sciences a plus.5+ years of construction materials testing and observation experienceAt least one ICC certificationExperience on large complex commercial construction projectsExcellent plan reading skillsHigh attention to detailExcellent written and verbal skillsProficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
