Job Description:
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Major duties are but not limited to: * Performs digital and computerized radiography both mobile and fixed independently assisting less experienced technologists on difficult exams. * Performs quality control of the images, assessing for proper exposure, positioning, and annotation, prior to sending exams to VistARad * Assists in clinical training. * Properly identifies patient images * Responsible for explaining exams to competent patients in terms the patient will comprehend as well as understand potential hazards that may occur as a result of the exam. * Practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self. * Responsible for stocking inventory of all supplies and related materials. Notifies lead technologist of inventory levels. * All DRTs must be knowledgeable in computerized and digital radiography (CR/DR), and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS). Work Schedule: A variety of work schedules are available; work schedule will be determined upon selection and Will vary, depending on position location. Shift changes will be considered based on patient and facility needs. NOTE: May be expected to work rotating weekends and holidays. Rotating and Irregular shifts which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. A variety of tours are available and will be discussed during the interview process.
