Tax Specialist The Tax Specialist plays a vital role in preparing accurate tax returns for individuals and small businesses, delivering exceptional client service, and staying updated with the latest tax regulations. This position is essential for enabling clients to achieve financial success and compliance. Key Responsibilities: Tax Preparation: Prepare individual and small business tax returns with precision and efficiency. Review financial records, including income statements and expenditure documentation, to ascertain necessary forms for tax returns. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. Customer Service: Deliver outstanding client service by promptly addressing concerns and inquiries. Conduct interviews with clients to gather pertinent information regarding their tax situations. Clarify tax return outcomes and offer valuable tax planning advice. Compliance and Accuracy: Remain informed about current tax laws and regulations through ongoing education and training. Guarantee all returns are prepared in accordance with applicable laws and standards. Verify the accuracy of data entered in tax software. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain organized records of all client interactions and tax returns. Ensure all required documents are filed correctly and securely. Stay updated on client files and follow up on any missing information. Training and Development: Engage in training sessions and continuing education to uphold professional credentials. Stay informed about modifications in tax laws and software updates. Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow tax professionals and office staff to ensure a smooth workflow. Support the mentorship and training of junior staff members as necessary. Contribute to marketing execution efforts. Qualifications: Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Must possess PTIN or be eligible to obtain one. Education and Experience: Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation. Physical Requirements: This role necessitates working at a desk for extended periods. Some overtime and weekend work may be required, particularly during tax season.
