Job Description:
Responsibilities The Head Baker is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day baking operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and creativity across all pastry and baked goods. This role includes leading, training, and inspiring the baking team while maintaining high standards of efficiency, safety, and hospitality. Lead by example, setting a positive tone, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality. Train, mentor, and educate the team on Daily Chew’s baking processes, standards, and recipes. Manage daily production schedules, maintaining proper par levels while minimizing waste (including freezer log management). Balance consistency with creativity: maintain core pastry offerings while developing and testing new recipes. Uphold quality standards by discarding any product that does not meet expectations. Execute baked goods for catering orders, pre-orders, and seasonal/holiday specials. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times. Track inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, reporting to the Head Chef for ordering needs. Prioritize, delegate, and oversee daily tasks to ensure smooth operations and on-time execution. Motivate and support the baking team, monitoring performance, quality, and efficiency. Monitor baking equipment for proper function and report maintenance needs promptly. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a baker, pastry chef, or similar leadership role. Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and recipe development. Ability to manage production schedules, inventory, and par levels effectively. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience training and motivating a team. High attention to detail with a commitment to consistency and quality. Creative mindset with willingness to experiment and innovate. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Clear communication skills and a collaborative attitude. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
