Shift: Days Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Position Description: JOB SUMMARY: Physical therapy services are provided in response to a physician's referral, in accordance with the laws governing the state of New Mexico, and within the scope of the therapist's training, knowledge, and experience. This may include, but is not limited to, evaluation and treatment of functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, social, and environmental needs. Direct patient care is provided to individuals of all ages, as his or her caseload demands. Physical therapists will assist in coordinating and providing patient and family education, will determine the need for additional, appropriate referrals, and execute effective physical therapy services as appropriate. Therapist will consult and coordinate with interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment. Employee will participate in educational programs, quality improvement, and program development. Non-patient responsibilities are to be completed as assigned. Therapist will pursue continued education opportunities and educational goals in addition to assisting with the marketing of physical therapy services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Providing skilled evaluation and treatment of functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, social, and environmental needs • Creating an appropriate plan of care that includes measurable functional goals while considering patient's psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs • Providing clear documentation that meets APTA guidelines and billing for appropriate charges in a timely manner • Perform family/caregiver/patient education to increase independence upon discharge. • Developing an appropriate discharge plan that includes discharge location, level of assistance, assistive device needs, as well as recommending community resources that may be available ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • As assigned KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: • Basic computer • Ability to efficiently schedule and perform patient care independently AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position. RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: ? Education: Graduate of accredited Master's or Doctorate-level program in Physical Therapy ? Work Experience: Greater than one year of experience preferred, but new graduates welcomed to apply ? License/Certification: Must be eligible for current licensure with the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Board. BLS required before employment begins. ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to transfer an average adult patient at a weight of 150 pounds. Physical Demand Analysis attached. Department | Physical Therapy - # of patients treated per day: 8 to 10 - General Certification Requirements: PT State License, BLS. - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Total joints, back/shoulder/foot pain, some neuro (TBI, stroke, Parkinson's). Pt Pop: Juvenile (typically 5+)- Geriatrics. - Job Duties: Comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment, develop and carry out individualized treatment plans, deliver skilled interventions, monitor patient progress, educate patients and family members, coordinate care with other healthcare providers ppropriately, and document services in compliance with legal, ethical, and reimbursement standards. - Acute Inpatient, Acute Rehab, Skilled, Outpatient?: Mixed, primarily hospital based outpatient PT, with a chance to be asked to flex in the inpatient MS- Rehab unit - What areas are they required to cover?: Primarily hospital based outpatient PT. - Experience or 'Must have' skills & common job duties: Must have 1 year of outpatient PT experience. Would consider someone with inpatient only experience. Will accept first time travelers. - Rehab Aides: PTA's: 2 PTAs. - Shifts & Scheduling: M-F 8-5, closed from 12-1 for lunch. - Weekend Requirements: Weekend Rotation (1 every 5)- covering inpatient units. - Holiday Requirements: May be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation. - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Business Casual (Collard shirt, khaki/black pants) or solid colored scrubs. - Department specific orientation: 1-2 Shifts with a preceptor.
