Director of Wellness and RecreationLocation: Arlington Heights, IL (Plaza)Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Flexibility required; includes evenings and weekends to meet program needs)Pay: $70,000/yearClearbrook is a non-profit, social services agency that is dedicated to providing innovative services, tools and opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrome.As the Director of Wellness and Recreation at Clearbrook, you will lead the charge in fostering physical, social, and emotional well-being for the individuals we serve. You will oversee recreation managers, develop inclusive programming for both residential and day settings, and build community partnerships to expand recreational opportunities. This is a vital leadership role focused on promoting independence, socialization, and community integration.Essential Functions: Program Leadership & Development (40%): Develop and implement tailored recreational programs that promote independence and community integration. Ensure activities are person-centered and integrated into service plans. Supervision & Staff Mentorship (30%): Directly supervise, coach, and evaluate recreation managers. Oversee scheduling and professional development to ensure high-quality engagement and staff retention. Financial & Resource Management (15%): Manage program budgets, allocate resources efficiently for activities and staffing, and track expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness. Compliance & Safety (15%): Maintain adherence to state, federal, and organizational regulations. Implement safety protocols and ensure accurate documentation for regulatory agencies.Director of Wellness and Recreation must have: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Recreation, or a related field. CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification is strongly preferred. Significant experience in special or therapeutic recreation, specifically working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Proven supervisory experience managing staff and complex programs. Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of adaptive recreation techniques and disability services regulations.
