Position Type: Community Ed - ABE/ABE Literacy Assistant - Student Support Date Posted: 2/12/2026 Location: ESC - Community Education - ABE Closing Date: 04/02/2026 Adult Basic Ed Literacy Assistant - Student Support Location: Adult Education Center- Columbia Heights/Fridley, 4111 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights Part-Time: 12 months/130 days/4 hrs a day Schedule: Mondays: 4:30pm - 8:00pm; Wednesday and Thursday evenings: 4:30 pm - 8:45pm Duties: Support ABE-ESL teachers and learners in lower level adult ESL classes in-person; provide instruction under the guidance of a licensed teacher; greet and direct students to testing; administer on-site progress testing in the areas of English language reading and listening skills on CASAS, and via other provided tools; monitor student attendance; conduct student follow up contact; track student data; and support volunteers. Training is provided. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. Must be physically working in the building/on site. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an ABE academic program preferred. Experience working with diverse populations, ESL learners, and adult learners preferred. Experience with technology (Google Workspace) preferred. BA/BS degree preferred. Bilingual skills a plus. Rate of pay: $17.00-$23.41/hour. Start Date: ASAP after closing.
